La Vita

In celebration of the near completion of my essay yesterday evening, I headed out for some dinner with Alex and Anita.
There isn't many small town, vegan friendly restaurants in Cardiff that aren't in some way controlled by corporate companies or full of douche bags. (My brain wouldn't have been able to deal with that yesterday - filled with National (anti)Socialism)

So we headed to La Vita. Marko & Roxy are friends and owners of the restaurant opposite Cardiff Castle and just futher down from the lane leading to Clwb Ifor Bach.
Marko wasn't working last night, which is a shame because he knows our 'special' Alex-nated Vegan pizza off by heart now.

(Love this candle holder)

Looking through the menu, a woman made passing comment at Anita about something which led us off into a mass of histerics. Me and Alex hiding behind menus to disguise our quivering/eye watering giggle. Finally that passed and we ordered.

To start we had this little vegan feast:

Olives
grilled asparagus
sundried tomatoes
tomatoes
grilled vegetables
rocket and cherry tomato salad with balsamic vinegar
cibatta with pumpkin seeds.
(goats cheese came on a seperate plate for Anita)

I have no idea how many times we've eaten here and yet, we've never had this! So delicious. I can't wait for summer where I can have this as dinner with a jug of lemon water.

Dinner was ofcourse pizza. Although it was a toss up between that and a calzone.

Hand stretched base
Tomato
Artichoke hearts
Olives
Meditteranian Vegtables
Asparagus
Freshly cut herbs
Balsamic vinegar
Chilli oil

mmm! look at the pictures, you know how good that tastes.

If you live in Cardiff and would like small, family owned business to eat in rather than the chain restaurants you usually find. This is completely perfect. They don't just do pizza but other Italian food, all incredibly reasonable and equally as delishious. Good atmosphere, good food and top-notch service.

Suitable for vegans (sometimes have vegan cheese available) - and have a very adaptable menu!

Also take reservations!

Coming home we tucked into previously made brownies and watched youtube videos. Some classics that I'd completely forgotten about:

Enjoy!
